KISLOVODSK is the largest climatic resort of federal importance.

Mineral waters have always been the main curative resource
of Kislovodsk.
Legend. Kislovodsk got its name due to its “sour” waters. And
the name of water springs “Narzan” has its own legend: once
a pillar - “nart-sane” - which means “hero-water” stood near the
water spring of the Narts (heroes of the epic legends of the
Caucasian peoples), and there was a carved inscription:
“The spring water gives strength to the young people
and returns health to the older”.

In historical chronicles, Kislovodsk narzan waters
were rst mentioned in the 18th century. In 1717,
by the order of Peter the Great, investigations
of the Caucasian region began to nd natural
water to treat various diseases.

The spa town of Kislovodsk was
founded in 1803, and the fame of
the curative water of the
Caucasus spreaded throughout
Russia very quickly.
